Pintail Duck - Coloured Coin (2014)

The third and last of the three coin series of over-sized twenty-five cent coins.  The Pintail Duck joins the Mallard and the Wood Duck in the colored duck series.  

The first to be released is the base metal, lower cost issue.  We will try to update the blog when the silver issue is released.  Mintage is 17,500, and the coin comes with a serialized Certificate of Authenticity, and a display case.

This coin is beautifully colorized.

Ducks of Canada - Wood Duck

The Wood Duck is the second coin in the Ducks of Canada series. In fact, there are two versions of this coin. The Silver Coin The silver coin features a pair of Wood Ducks swimming. The ducks are colorized on a fine ( 0.9999 ) silver proof coin. The coin contains 15.87 gram silver. The denomination of this coin is $20. The mintage is 10,000.

 The 25 cents version is also colorized, and the pair of ducks is standing. The mintage is 17,500. 

The first issues, one of each, had mallards on the coins. One more is planned.

Royal Canadian Mint Coins Near Sellout

The Royal Canadian Mint has just released a message that the Mallard Coins are 86% sold out.  

What are the Mallard Coins?  They are the first in a three coin series on ducks.  These coins were issued in two styles, fine silver, sold out immediately, and base metal, about to sell out.

The fine silver coins show a pair of mallards in profile, while the base metal coins showthe ducks face on.  These coins have distinct images.

We tried to obtain silver coins, but just a few days after release we were unable to get any.  I called the mint and was told they were all gone.

Both versions are great as numismatic coins.
