The Japan Mint has been producing coins for its prefectures,
on geographical divisions. There will
eventually be 47 coins issued. Currently
the mint is featuring Gunma, Hiroshima, and Miyagi. The commemorative issues are the 1,000 Yen
silver coins.
While there is are sales to overseas dealers possible, the
Mint Shop sells and ships only to Japan.
These are beautiful examples of Japanese Art. Look for the current three.
