The coins in this series have been fine silver coins, and proved so popular that a new 100 for 100 series has started. This is a low risk way to start coin collecting, and if you live in Canada you could probably spend the coin if you decided to no longer collect. Since the beginning, several coins in the 20 for 20 series have been released each year, and these are made available to both Canadian and U. S. residents.
