Austrian Silver Coins

Austria had money before the European Union.  Its silver coins were in shillings and were  used prior o the Euro.  Currently, the Euro is used, and Austria mints a wide variety of silver commemorative coins, especially in the 5 euro, 10 Euro, and 15 Euro denominations.

Its bullion coin, which is in fine silver, is the philharmonic.

Earlier silver coins used were the Maria Theresa thaler and vereinsthaler, florin, krone, and kreuzer.  Austria did not exist as Austria when some of these were in use, but was part of the Holy Roman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire at early times in its history.
These may have preceded the current country of Austria, but were in use in its current geographical location.
