Grading Coins

Coin value is determined by rarity and grade.  The higher the grade, the more a coin is worth.  Grading is on a scale of 70.  Each coin has different criteria for being graded at different levels.

The grades generally have words associated with them, such as GOOD, VERY GOOD, FINE, VERY FINE, EXTRA FINE, AU, and a large group of UNCIRCULATED GRADES.

The Red Book gives some help, but it is recommended that you also buy a book that specializes in grading.
